Juliane grew up in Johannesburg and attended Randburg High School. After completing her secondary education, she pursued her passion for physiotherapy and qualified at Stellenbosch University in 1984. Immediately after graduating, she embarked on her professional journey by joining Tygerberg Hospital. During her time there, she gained invaluable experience in adult neurology rehabilitation, ICU care, and chest physiotherapy.
In 1986, she reached another significant milestone when she married James van Dyk. Around the same time, she expanded her expertise by transitioning into paediatric physiotherapy at Jan Kriel School in Kuilsriver. As her family grew, she balanced her professional and personal life. After having three sons, she worked as a locum physiotherapist in Brackenfell and Milnerton.
Over the years, Juliane has developed into a dedicated physiotherapist with extensive experience in neurological rehabilitation, paediatrics, and pain management. Her commitment to patient care and continuous learning has been the foundation of her successful career.
Building on her experience, Juliane took a bold step in 2002 when she decided to start her own physiotherapy practice from home. By 2003, she moved to the Durbanville Family Care Centre, where she provided exceptional care to her patients until early 2020. Her dedication to continuous learning played a crucial role in shaping her approach to treatment, ensuring she remained at the forefront of physiotherapy advancements.
Juliane has always been deeply committed to professional growth. As part of this commitment, she completed the Adult Hemiplegic Neurodevelopmental course along with its advanced modules. Furthermore, she pursued additional qualifications by undertaking the Bobath/Neurodevelopmental basic Paediatric course. To stay updated with the latest developments in her field, she consistently attends workshops focused on paediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, and pain management.
Between 2018 and early 2020, she extended her expertise beyond clinical practice by contributing to Stellenbosch University’s student supervision program at Paarl School. Since 2020, she has been practicing at Wellspring in collaboration with other therapists. This transition has not only broadened her scope of practice but has also deepened her expertise in physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
With a special interest in neurological rehabilitation, Juliane is highly experienced in treating conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis. In addition head injuries, dementia, delayed milestones, and cerebral palsy. Her patient-centered approach ensures personalized rehabilitation for each individual.
Above all, with a deep passion for physiotherapy Juliane remains steadfast in her commitment to helping patients regain mobility and enhance their quality of life. Through expert physiotherapy and rehabilitation, she continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients. One step at a time.
