Karen Taylor CBT Therapist Manchester provides compassionate, client-centred care backed by over 25 years of experience in psychological services. I work across the voluntary, statutory, and private sectors, always prioritising comfort and trust. I strive to create a safe space where genuine therapeutic relationships can flourish.
Every client presents unique challenges. Therefore, I avoid a rigid, one-size-fits-all protocol. Instead, I develop bespoke treatment plans based on your individual goals. By tailoring the approach to fit your needs, therapy becomes more effective and meaningful.
Since 1996, I’ve delivered psychological care across a wide range of sectors. For 10 years, I worked as a senior lecturer in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and helped shape the Advanced Practice PGDip Course at the University of Cumbria. I continue to offer honorary lectures when required, ensuring my academic engagement remains active.
Additionally, I served as an external examiner for three years at The University of Teesside. There, I reviewed courses focused on complexity, CBT, and dual diagnoses.
Currently, I run my own private practice, offering individual, couple, and family therapy. I also supervise other clinicians in the field, providing expert guidance and support. Alongside my private work, I facilitate trauma-focused programmes with Cumbria Police and consult on treatment programme development.
My clinical interests include:
Anxiety and mood disorders such as depression, panic, SAD, OCD, and PTSD
Relationship and psycho-sexual issues
Addictions and behavioural concerns
Neurodiversity challenges
Emotional intelligence, resilience, and coaching
Complex trauma and personality disorders
Continual professional development ensures that I stay current and effective in all these areas.
I hold several postgraduate qualifications in mental health and CBT, including a Professional Doctorate and a PGDip in Advanced Practice in CBT. I’ve completed EMDR psychotherapy training and certified as a supervisor for CBT professionals.
I treat a wide variety of conditions, including:
ADHD, Autism, and Neurodiverse conditions
Depression, BDD, and bipolar disorder
PTSD, OCD, and phobias
Eating disorders and addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling, food, exercise)
Sleep issues, stress, and emotional regulation difficulties
Each session is tailored, collaborative, and structured to help you move forward.
