Clinical Psychologist Slough

Katalin Thomann Counsellor & Psychotherapist Edinburgh helps parents navigate the emotional complexities of early parenthood. As a mother of two, I understand the challenges that come with this life-changing journey. I provide a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients explore complex thoughts and feelings. Consequently, my psychodynamic approach focuses on how early childhood experiences shape our responses as adults. Often, parenting can trigger memories or emotions from our own upbringing. Through therapy, clients gain understanding rather than blame, which supports personal growth and resilience.
I offer compassionate support informed by both personal and professional experience. Having faced early motherhood challenges myself, I empathise deeply with clients adjusting to parenthood. My sessions encourage reflection, self-awareness, and emotional clarity. Therefore, every client receives care tailored to their unique experiences, helping them manage stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. Furthermore, I combine evidence-based approaches to create a supportive therapeutic environment.
My clinical journey began at PF in Edinburgh, the largest low-cost counselling charity in the city. Over three years, I supported clients with diverse mental health concerns. When I became a mother, my focus shifted to supporting women and parents, leading me to collaborate with Sarah Wheatley at Birth and Beyond. Over the past several years, I have guided dozens of clients in my private practice. Additionally, I run small group counselling sessions at a charity in Leith for mothers and parents.
I help clients manage a wide range of challenges, including:
Postnatal Depression and Anxiety
Intrusive thoughts about oneself or the baby
Infertility trauma and baby loss
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Depression and low self-esteem
PTSD and Complex PTSD

My therapeutic approach is flexible and client-focused. I provide:
