I am a Chartered and Registered Physiotherapist with over 20 years of NHS experience and 14 years working privately. Trained at the Oswestry & North Staffs School of Physiotherapy, I have developed a strong foundation in managing musculoskeletal conditions.
My special interests cover a wide range of issues, including back and neck pain, sports injuries, sciatica, nerve pain, headaches, joint and muscular pain, and fibromyalgia. Throughout my NHS career, I worked in hospitals across South Wales and Herefordshire, progressing to Clinical Specialist and Extended Scope Practitioner roles. In these positions, I collaborated closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons and provided training to physiotherapists and other health professionals. Additionally, I triaged patients referred by GPs for orthopaedic consultations and assisted those with complex, often chronic pain syndromes.
When treating patients, I focus on identifying the root cause of their pain, which frequently lies away from the site of symptoms. Failing to address this can result in recurring problems. Therefore, I assess body alignment thoroughly and apply targeted strengthening and stretching exercises to maintain corrective changes. Achieving proper alignment improves overall body function and reduces maladaptive pain patterns.
My treatment approach centres on a variety of hands-on techniques, such as Myofascial Release, Positional Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, and Acupuncture. These methods aim to relieve pain, restore movement, and promote healing. I also incorporate Proprioceptive Sports Taping to support injuries and enhance recovery.
Following extensive travel in 1996, I studied Myofascial Release, which eventually led to a Diploma in Craniosacral Therapy. Combining these specialised soft tissue techniques with physiotherapy allows for a deeper and more effective treatment experience. This holistic approach has proven beneficial in improving treatment outcomes.
Sessions usually last about an hour, enabling a detailed assessment to identify the main issues causing symptoms. Consequently, treatments are comprehensive and tailored specifically to each individual’s needs, helping them achieve the best possible results.
