The centre’s mission is to better understand how movement is generated and organised at multiple levels—from muscle systems to whole-body actions. We focus on three core themes: 1) the physiological and biomechanical basis of motion; 2) the interaction between humans and their environment; 3) applications for performance in sport and health. The Laboratory MIP Nantes Université fosters multidisciplinary collaboration. We bring experts together from sport sciences (STAPS), biomechanics, physiology and psychology. This broad stance allows us to generate novel insights.
Physiology of muscle and movement
Biomechanics of human motion
Psychological interactions in performance contexts
Applied optimisation of movement in sport and health
We deliver tailored research and training that address real-world problems. For example, we study how athletes optimise force production, how the nervous system adapts to training, and how human interaction with machines or environments affects safety and performance. UR 4334 – Motricité Lab+1
The Laboratory MIP Nantes Université hosts platforms for experimental measurement, biomechanical analysis and data modelling. We partner with international universities and industry to translate research into practice. Our “Entreprise” space encourages innovation and applied outcomes. UR 4334 – Motricité Lab
When you join our team or collaborate with us you benefit from:
A multidisciplinary environment combining sport sciences, biomechanics and psychology
Focused research on human movement, interactions and performance
State-of-the-art experimental facilities and measurement platforms
Strong links with industry, international partners and applied outcomes
We believe that by understanding movement at its core we can design better training for athletes, improve rehabilitation for patients and enhance human-machine interaction in daily life. Our goal is to make a tangible impact in sport, health and performance.
Whether you are a prospective PhD student, a collaborator from industry, or a partner institution, we invite you to engage with us. The Laboratory MIP Nantes Université offers research internships, doctoral projects and partnership opportunities. Contact us to learn more.
