Laura began her career as a new graduate at Whyalla Hospital in regional South Australia. During this time, she gained extensive experience working across inpatient, outpatient, and outreach clinics throughout the region. The remote setting allowed her to develop skills in both prosthetics and orthotics while working with clients of all ages. Moreover, she collaborated closely with Aboriginal clients and health services, which enhanced her cultural understanding and patient-centred approach.
In 2024, Laura returned to her hometown to join the Bendigo OAPL team. Being closer to friends and family allows her to maintain a strong support network. Additionally, she continues to pursue her passion for prosthetics and orthotics.
Laura provides a broad range of prosthetic and orthotic services, focusing especially on the following areas:
Paediatric Care
Laura has a special interest in working with children. She aims to provide supportive and tailored care that helps young clients reach their functional goals.
Limb Loss Rehabilitation
She supports individuals who have experienced limb loss throughout their rehabilitation journey, focusing on improving their mobility and quality of life.
Innovative Orthotic Technology
Recently, Laura has been working with 3D printing of Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFOs) for paediatric clients. She plans to expand her knowledge in this fast-growing area, helping to bring the benefits of new technology directly to her patients.
Laura’s wide-ranging regional experience enables her to deliver comprehensive care to diverse populations, including Aboriginal communities. She designs treatment plans that respect each client’s unique needs and cultural background.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys painting, baking, and stand-up paddleboarding. These hobbies reflect her creative spirit and love of the outdoors, qualities she brings into her clinical practice.
In summary, Laura Seddon combines clinical expertise with compassion and innovation to provide personalised prosthetic and orthotic care at Bendigo OAPL. She is committed to helping clients improve their mobility and independence while supporting them every step of the way.
