Lesley Malone Clinical Psychologist Edinburgh provides compassionate, professional support for adults and families. I specialise in neurodiversity assessments and cognitive evaluations. Therefore, I focus on creating a safe and supportive space where people feel heard and understood. Consequently, the assessment process becomes comfortable, stress-free, and informative. My goal is to help clients uncover their unique strengths and challenges while feeling valued throughout their journey.
I connect deeply with clients and prioritise empathy in all sessions. As a result, clients often report feeling safe and understood from the first appointment. I work closely with individuals to ensure every session meets their needs. Moreover, I guide families and support networks to collaborate effectively. This approach strengthens outcomes and promotes personal growth.
I have worked in the NHS for 25 years and in private practice for over a year. During this time, I gained hands-on experience conducting cognitive and adaptive functioning assessments. I assess and diagnose Learning Disability (Intellectual Disability), Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), ADHD, and the neurodevelopmental aspects of Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Additionally, I support people who have experienced trauma or spent time in the care system. Most of my NHS work involved adults with learning disabilities, their families, and multidisciplinary teams. Consequently, my work focuses on collaboration, respect, and fostering environments where people thrive.
I specialise in neurodiversity assessments, including ASD and ADHD evaluations. My approach ensures accurate, personalised insights. Furthermore, I integrate cognitive assessments to create a full understanding of each individual’s strengths and challenges. By combining experience, empathy, and rigorous assessment methods, I provide clear, actionable guidance to clients and their families.
I provide tailored cognitive assessments to highlight intellectual and adaptive functioning. Moreover, I offer therapies designed to support personal development and coping strategies. Clients benefit from structured, collaborative sessions that are both informative and reassuring. This approach ensures long-term benefits beyond the assessment itself.
I earned an MPhil from the University of Edinburgh (1993–1996) and an MDDS in Psychology from London Metropolitan University (1986–1989). I also completed specialised training in ADHD diagnosis (UKAAN), ADOS-2 (2018), and FASD for health and social care practitioners (FAAST). I am a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC Registration No: PYL15735). These credentials support my commitment to high-quality, evidence-based practice.
I am delighted to work with Shore Psychology. I share their mission to make high-quality assessments accessible to everyone. Therefore, I focus on excellence, respect, and collaboration in every client interaction. Together, we ensure clients receive comprehensive support tailored to their needs.
