About Life Counsel
Life Counsel is a professional counselling practice founded by Gerrie Pretorius, a qualified counsellor, trauma specialist and theologian with more than two decades of experience working with individuals, families, and corporate organisations. Gerrie’s journey began in 2002 as a missionary across Mozambique, Zambia, and Venda, working on youth and children’s ministries, discipleship training, and community projects. These early experiences shaped his deep appreciation for cultural understanding and human connection.
In 2006, Gerrie earned a Bachelor of Theology from Christ Seminary in Polokwane and served as a youth pastor at Agape Church. His passion for helping people heal and grow evolved into a professional counselling path, leading him to establish Life Counsel in 2010. Since then, the organisation has grown significantly, expanding its services across Johannesburg, Gauteng, and Cape Town, and forming partnerships with multiple corporate clients.
Gerrie is registered with the Council of Counsellors in South Africa and has undergone specialised training in Meta Psychology and Trauma and Life Stress Reduction, for which Life Counsel offers accredited training programmes through HPCSA. The practice combines cognitive and psychological approaches with physical well-being, focusing on practical tools and sustainable life skills.
