Welcome to Turning Page Counselling. I’m Maddison York, a qualified pluralistic integrative counsellor in Cardiff. I earned a first-class honours BA degree from the University of South Wales. After being diagnosed with Autism and ADHD at 23, I deeply understand neurodivergence. This lived experience drives my passion to support others with similar conditions.
Alongside my work with neurodivergence, I also have a personal understanding of chronic illness. Diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition at 23, I bring this experience into my practice, offering empathy and insights into both mental and physical health challenges.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I strictly adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I also have full indemnity insurance, an enhanced DBS certificate, and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), ensuring your personal data is always safe and secure.
I continuously seek professional development by attending regular supervision to ensure I meet ethical standards in all my work.
I offer a range of therapeutic services, tailored to each client’s unique needs. My pluralistic approach allows me to combine therapeutic models such as humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). Below are the key services I provide:
I specialise in supporting neurodivergent individuals. With personal experience as someone diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, I help clients understand how their brains work. Together, we address challenges such as social interaction difficulties, executive functioning, and sensory sensitivities.
Chronic illness or disability can significantly impact emotional and mental wellbeing. I offer therapy to help individuals manage the challenges these conditions bring, build resilience, and develop effective coping strategies.
If you're struggling with anxiety or depression, therapy can provide relief. Using a variety of approaches, we will work together to understand your symptoms, build coping mechanisms, and improve your overall mental health.
Therapy offers a supportive space to explore self-worth and develop confidence. If you face low self-esteem or seek personal growth, we will work to enhance your self-image and empower you to meet your goals.
If you are dealing with relationship difficulties, whether with a partner, family member, or friend, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to work through issues. We will focus on improving communication, emotional connections, and resolving conflicts.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, making therapy accessible to individuals regardless of location. My practice serves clients of all ages and is rooted in trust, confidentiality, and respect.
As a BACP member, I ensure that your confidentiality and well-being are protected at all times. By maintaining the highest ethical standards, I create a warm and supportive environment where you can explore your concerns freely.
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward better mental health, feel free to get in touch for an initial consultation. We can discuss your goals and decide if we are a good fit to work together.
