Maddison York is a neurodivergent counsellor and the founder of Turning Page Counselling in Cardiff. She is a qualified pluralistic integrative therapist, having graduated with first-class honours in Counselling from the University of South Wales. Maddison brings not only professional expertise but also lived experience, offering clients a deeply empathetic and authentic therapeutic space.
Diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD at the age of 23, Maddison strongly advocates for the Neurodiversity Paradigm, which emphasises acceptance and celebrates neurological variation. Her approach creates an affirming and inclusive environment for neurodivergent clients, who often seek support from someone who truly understands their lived reality.
Additionally, Maddison lives with a rare autoimmune condition, also diagnosed in early adulthood. This personal experience informs her compassionate approach to working with clients navigating chronic illness or long-term health issues. Her openness, warmth, and non-pathologising perspective offer a safe and supportive space for healing and self-discovery.
Maddison is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and she strictly follows its Ethical Framework. She holds enhanced DBS clearance, full professional indemnity insurance, and ICO registration, ensuring that client confidentiality and data protection are always upheld.
At Turning Page Counselling, Maddison offers therapeutic support for a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. She works primarily with adults and young adults, offering individual sessions both in-person in Cardiff and online, providing flexibility and accessibility for her clients.
Her pluralistic integrative approach means she draws from various therapeutic models—including person-centred, cognitive-behavioural, and existential therapies—to tailor each session to the individual’s unique needs and preferences. Collaboration is at the heart of her method; therapy is not something done to the client but with them.
She is particularly passionate about supporting:
Neurodivergent individuals (including Autism, ADHD, and PDA)
People living with chronic illness or disability
Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or burnout
Clients exploring identity, including late-diagnosed neurodivergence
Her sessions are affirming, non-clinical, and focused on empowering individuals to make meaning of their experiences. Clients are met with understanding, acceptance, and deep respect for their personal journey.
Maddison is committed to ongoing professional development. She attends regular clinical supervision with a BACP-compliant supervisor and frequently engages in further training to better serve her clients. This ensures she remains ethically grounded and responsive to the evolving needs of those she supports.
Whether you are navigating neurodivergence, living with chronic illness, or simply seeking clarity and connection in your life, Turning Page Counselling offers a compassionate and collaborative space to explore your next chapter. With Maddison’s unique insight and professional skill, you’ll find therapy that not only meets you where you are—but walks beside you every step forward.
