Marcos Katchburian Orthopaedic Maidstone leads in delivering expert care for complex hand and wrist conditions. Mr Marcos Katchburian is a distinguished Orthopaedic Consultant with decades of experience in both surgical and non-surgical hand treatments. He sees patients privately at KIMS Hospital and also serves as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
Mr Katchburian is a highly qualified orthopaedic surgeon. He obtained his medical degree from the London Hospital in 1987. His orthopaedic training spans two continents—Brazil and the UK—giving him a diverse clinical foundation. In Brazil, he completed a full residency program. Later, in the UK, he spent six years on the South East Thames orthopaedic training circuit.
Following general orthopaedic training, Mr Katchburian sub-specialised in Hand Surgery at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. He also trained in Paediatric Orthopaedics at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Hospital de la Timone, Enfants in Marseille. These internationally recognised centres contributed to his advanced approach in treatment and diagnosis.
One of Mr Katchburian’s notable contributions is the early CT model he developed for diagnosing scaphoid fractures. This diagnostic approach enhances accuracy and improves patient outcomes. He works closely with specialist hand therapists who provide non-surgical care and post-operative therapy to ensure effective recovery.
Patients at Marcos Katchburian Orthopaedic Maidstone receive treatment for:
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Dupuytren’s contracture
Trigger finger and thumb
Wrist arthroscopy
Joint replacement
Tendon injuries
Sports-related hand fractures
Arthritis of the thumb, wrist, and fingers
Additionally, pain-relieving injections and wide-awake surgeries are available.
Mr Katchburian is available for consultations at KIMS Hospital. His NHS practice runs at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. For appointments, contact his medical secretary, Mrs K Williams, at reservations@kims.org.uk.
