Dr Anderson began his studies at Durham University. There, he completed a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in 1995. After that, he joined the University of Nottingham Medical School and became a doctor in 2000.

Right after medical school, he started training in paediatrics. He worked across the East and West Midlands. During this time, he learned how to care for children with a wide range of conditions.
