Matt Swaine CBT Therapist Kent brings over 10 years of hands-on experience in both NHS and private practice. He offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for a wide range of mental health issues. These include depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, health anxiety, and PTSD.
In addition, Matt supports individuals dealing with low self-esteem, perfectionism, and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). He also specialises in treating mental health difficulties that arise alongside long-term physical health conditions and chronic pain.
His work combines evidence-based CBT with models such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). Matt consistently adapts his methods to suit individual needs.
Matt’s approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centred. He listens actively, ensuring that therapy is a joint process. Because of his intuitive and calming nature, clients feel heard and respected throughout their journey.
Furthermore, Matt creates a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for healing. He strictly follows professional standards set by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
To maintain high-quality care, Matt regularly attends supervision sessions. These ensure he reflects on and improves his clinical work.
Matt has provided therapy for a wide variety of conditions. He supports clients facing adjustment disorder, anger management issues, and medically unexplained symptoms (MUS).
He also helps people manage seasonal affective disorder (SAD), postnatal depression, and self-harming behaviours. Because of this broad clinical base, many people find the exact support they need.
Matt holds a BA Honours in Psychology with Applied Criminology from Canterbury Christ Church University. He also earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (High Intensity) from the same university.
Additionally, he completed supervisor training and long-term health condition training at the University of Surrey. These qualifications support his ability to supervise others and treat complex, chronic health-related mental health issues.
Matt offers flexible therapy options for those in need of support. Whether you’re dealing with phobias, OCD, or chronic stress, he can help. You can expect a personalised, thoughtful approach that evolves with your progress.
Many clients appreciate that Matt combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion. This blend encourages lasting change and personal growth.
