Dr Michelle Lannon focuses on treating patients with acute leukaemia and bone marrow failure disorders. She uses evidence-based approaches and works closely with her patients to design tailored treatment plans. In addition, she places strong emphasis on clear communication so patients always understand their options. Her expertise ensures treatment decisions happen with confidence and clarity.
Dr Lannon specialises in caring for Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) patients. She recognises the unique challenges that young people face during cancer treatment. Therefore, she provides individualised care that balances clinical needs with emotional wellbeing. She ensures that young patients receive support from a team dedicated to both their treatment and their quality of life.
Dr Michelle Lannon graduated from the University of Dundee in 2007 and later completed her medical and Specialty Haematology training in the North East in 2016. Following her training, she joined the Freeman Hospital as a Clinical Fellow in Research. There, she recruited and managed patients on clinical trials, helping advance the field of haematology through research and innovation.
Since 2019, Michell Lannon Consultant Haematologist Newcastle has served as a Consultant at Newcastle Hospitals. She currently chairs the regional TYA multidisciplinary team (MDT) and also acts as Clinical Lead. These leadership roles allow her to guide regional strategies and ensure patients benefit from high-quality, coordinated care. Through her leadership, she continues to raise standards and support both patients and colleagues across the region.
