Mohaned Egred Consultant Interventional Cardiologist Newcastle delivers world-class cardiovascular care at the renowned Freeman Hospital. With over two decades of experience, Dr Egred combines expertise, innovation, and precision in treating complex cardiac conditions. Dr Egred graduated from Damascus University and pursued further training in Cardiology in Liverpool. He then completed his MD at Aberdeen University and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology in Canada. In 2008, he joined the Freeman Hospital as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. Since 2009, he has served as an honorary senior lecturer at Newcastle University.
His academic background enhances his ability to deliver cutting-edge treatments while mentoring the next generation of cardiologists.
Dr Egred focuses on complex coronary interventions, chronic total occlusions, and percutaneous mitral valve treatments. He is one of the few specialists in the UK performing percutaneous mitral valve interventions. He works closely with patients who have been turned down for surgery, offering hope through advanced non-surgical options.
Furthermore, Dr Egred serves as a proctor and trainer, educating consultants on complex coronary techniques and devices. His contribution to global cardiac education remains unmatched.
Internationally respected, Dr Egred speaks at numerous national and global conferences. As a faculty member at major meetings, he delivers lectures and performs live cases that demonstrate advanced procedural skills. In addition, he advises NICE and acts as an expert for the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
He also examines for the Royal College of Physicians and is a Fellow of both the Royal College and the European Society of Cardiology.
Dr Egred is the joint clinical lead for cardiovascular research at Newcastle hospitals. He has authored more than 85 publications and presented over 100 times at leading conferences. He contributes regularly as a peer reviewer and has written key chapters in interventional cardiology textbooks.
His research focuses on percutaneous coronary intervention outcomes and the adoption of innovative devices in cardiac care.
