Mona Khandwala Ophthalmology Maidstone offers highly specialised care in oculoplastic and ophthalmic surgery. Miss Mona Khandwala, MBBS, MS, MRCOphth, FRCS, is a leading Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon based at KIMS Hospital and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. With over 20 years of hands-on experience, she brings a personal approach to every patient, combining precision, compassion, and advanced surgical techniques.
Miss Khandwala trained extensively in Leeds and the South East of England. She completed two highly regarded fellowships in eyelid, lacrimal, and cosmetic surgery at Maidstone Hospital and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. In addition to clinical work, she held an academic post as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of East Anglia, where she also pursued groundbreaking research in cataract surgery and eyelid skin cancer imaging.
As the Oculoplastic Lead at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, Miss Khandwala provides leadership and expert surgical care. She performs modern cataract surgery, cosmetic eyelid procedures, tear duct surgery, and treatment for dry eye and thyroid eye disease. Her work in managing eyelid skin cancers has earned international recognition, both in clinical circles and in published research.
Throughout her career, Miss Khandwala has remained committed to medical education. She serves as an Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and participates in national recruitment for ST1 Ophthalmology roles. Additionally, she interviews prospective medical students for University College London. At Maidstone Hospital, she also mentors junior doctors in her role as Ophthalmology College Tutor.
