Natalie Smith Integrative Therapist Birmingham offers a tailored, multi-modality approach to emotional wellbeing. Every individual is different, so your therapy should reflect that. I’ve trained in a range of psychological therapies—such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)—to provide a service that suits you, not just a diagnosis.
From our very first assessment, we’ll work collaboratively to decide which approach best fits your goals. My focus is always on helping you achieve meaningful and lasting change. I offer both short- and long-term therapy to meet your evolving needs. While I regularly support individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, I’m also trained in complex issues like trauma, PTSD, fibromyalgia, dissociation, and OCD.
Because no two people experience mental health the same way, I make sure to adapt the treatment accordingly. During our sessions, we may integrate multiple evidence-based therapies. This flexible approach ensures you’re not confined to one method. Instead, we adjust based on your progress and feedback. As we move forward, you’ll always have input on the direction we take.
I also offer cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) tailored to weight management and medically unexplained symptoms, including fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. This helps clients facing both emotional and physical challenges.
To support my clients effectively, I’ve undertaken extensive academic and clinical training:
BSc Psychology – Cardiff University
MSc Counselling Psychology – Keele University
EMDR (All 3 levels) – EMDR Extra
Additional EMDR modules – OCD, fibromyalgia, medically unexplained symptoms
CBT Courses – Weight management, dissociation, OCD, social anxiety
CFT, DBT, CAT, Transactional Analysis 101, and Solution Focused Therapy
My education and additional courses allow me to combine scientific understanding with human compassion.
I’ve previously participated in cognitive neuroscience research at Birmingham University, expanding my knowledge of brain-behaviour relationships. My main clinical interest is trauma. I use EMDR and trauma-focused modalities, like CAT, to help clients process past experiences and reduce distress. In addition, I offer practical CBT and DBT skills to manage depression and anxiety.
