Nicola Butcher Therapist Chelmsford has dedicated over 16 years to supporting both children and adults with neurodivergent needs. From the beginning, her passion was deeply personal. Over two decades ago, her son was diagnosed with autism. A few years later, her daughter received an ADHD diagnosis. These pivotal moments sparked a lifelong mission.
Nicola immersed herself in understanding neurodivergence—not just as a parent, but as a therapist determined to make a real difference. This personal experience shaped her professional journey. As a result, her approach combines deep empathy with clinical knowledge.
Nicola believes everyone deserves to feel understood. She helps clients explore their unique identity without judgment. Whether navigating school, home, or work environments, she empowers individuals to manage everyday challenges with resilience.
Her work is integrative. Drawing from several therapeutic modalities, Nicola tailors each session to suit the individual. She uses approaches like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to help clients break down internal barriers. With consistency and compassion, she helps them build healthier, more balanced lives.
Nicola’s training reflects her commitment to excellence. She has completed:
Certificate in Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2)
Certificate in Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R)
Practitioner’s Diploma in CBT
Advanced Diploma in Counselling
Diploma in Clinical Transpersonal Hypnotherapy
Certificate in Clinical Supervision
Additional training through Compass Psychology, South East Essex College, and the Victoria Counselling Training Centre
Nicola is a Senior Accredited Therapist with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Through open dialogue and evidence-based methods, Nicola enables lasting, positive change.
