Nicola Revington Clinical Psychologist Bristol provides experienced, empathetic, and integrative psychological care to individuals and couples. She qualified in 2008 as a clinical psychologist in South Africa and has spent over 14 years helping people navigate emotional, psychological, and life-related challenges. Through her diverse background, she offers practical insight, tailored interventions, and a deep understanding of mental health in a range of contexts.
Nicola has worked in private practice, university settings, corporate environments, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. She has supported clients in both South Africa and the UK. In addition, she has trained and supervised future psychologists and counsellors, offering both individual and group support in various forms. Her work includes organisational, parenting, and educational groups, making her expertise wide-reaching.
Nicola Revington Clinical Psychologist Bristol applies an integrative approach to assessment and therapy. She blends psychodynamic principles with systemic, trauma-informed, developmental, and attachment-based theories. This allows her to adapt therapy to each person’s needs.
She also draws from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). This integration provides a practical and supportive framework for healing.
Nicola specialises in emotional health during life changes. She helps with adjustment difficulties, anxiety, bereavement, and maternal wellbeing. She pays particular attention to perinatal mental health, such as postnatal depression and anxiety. Her interest in attachment theory supports her work with both individuals and couples, helping people form stronger relationships.
Nicola believes therapy should be collaborative. Clients are encouraged to reflect, grow, and become more aware of the patterns that shape their lives. Through curiosity and safe exploration, they gain clarity and make more fulfilling choices. This process supports healthier relationships and a more balanced, rewarding life.
Nicola recently joined the Priory team as a clinical psychologist based at Priory Hospital Bristol. She also offers remote sessions online, providing flexibility for clients who prefer virtual support.
Her training was completed at the University of the Witwatersrand and is accredited by the HCPC in the UK. Nicola remains committed to learning and attends regular workshops, courses, and supervision. Her qualifications include courses in ACT, EFT, MBSR, child development, and safeguarding.
Her academic work explored the role of supervision in psychology. After qualifying, she contributed to research on anxiety and stress disorders with the Medical Research Council at the University of Stellenbosch. This foundation supports her evidence-based approach in clinical practice.
