Nina Steyn Physio Gardens is led by Nina Steyn, a physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience. She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2002. After community service in Durban, she worked for two years in the UK.
From 2006, Nina practiced at Spies, Zipfel and Barr in Johannesburg, a vibrant teaching clinic. During this time, she earned a diploma in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT 1) and became a McKenzie Credentialed Therapist in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) by 2011.
In 2012, Nina worked in Angola at an oil company clinic, assessing workers’ physical fitness for offshore jobs. This experience broadened her skills and cultural knowledge.
Later, she moved to Cape Town, joining Green Point Physiotherapy in 2014. In 2016, she opened her private practice within Mediclinic Oranjezicht’s Spine Clinic. There, she collaborates with orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Attila Szabo, who shares her passion for the McKenzie Method.
Nina specialises in treating spinal and musculoskeletal conditions using proven methods. Her services include:
Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy
McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
Rehabilitation for injuries and chronic conditions
Pilates-based rehabilitation (trained in London)

She combines hands-on treatment with personalised education. This approach helps patients manage their condition effectively.
Nina stays current through regular postgraduate training and workshops. She belongs to professional bodies including the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP), and Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy Group (OMPTG).
Outside work, Nina enjoys running, yoga, hiking, mountain biking, and swimming. Her active lifestyle inspires her treatment philosophy.
