Optimist Physiotherapy is led by Lucy Phillips, a highly skilled physiotherapist with a passion for helping individuals achieve optimal recovery and long-term wellness. Lucy graduated with a first-class honours degree from Birmingham University in 2007 and has since built an impressive career in both clinical and sports physiotherapy settings.
Lucy’s career began within the NHS, where she honed her skills, before moving on to work at the national Police Rehabilitation Centre near Reading. For the last 12 years, Lucy has worked with a wide range of patients, from those with everyday musculoskeletal issues to athletes with complex sports injuries.
Her experience extends far beyond the UK, as she has worked internationally, including in the French Alps, where she treated athletes at the annual X-Games and provided a variety of services, including deep tissue and relaxation massage. Lucy has also had the opportunity to serve as the Lead Physiotherapist for the 'Strive Challenge,' providing physiotherapy care to Sir Richard Branson during expeditions in Italy, Sicily, and Bhutan. These global experiences have enriched her practice, adding invaluable insights that she now incorporates into her private physiotherapy treatments.
With the opening of Optimist Physiotherapy in 2023, Lucy brings her extensive experience to Henley-on-Thames. Her clinic focuses on providing accurate assessments, diagnoses, and treatments to help individuals recover quickly and effectively. Lucy uses a wide range of treatment techniques tailored to the unique needs of each patient, including manual therapy, acupuncture, education, and rehabilitation exercises.
At Optimist Physiotherapy, we offer a comprehensive range of physiotherapy services aimed at providing effective pain relief, promoting recovery, and improving overall physical function. Whether you are dealing with long-standing back pain, everyday aches, sports injuries, or post-operative rehabilitation, we create personalised treatment plans that focus on your specific needs.
As a former competitive athlete, Lucy understands the demands of sports and the importance of fast recovery. Optimist Physiotherapy offers expert sports physiotherapy services, including injury diagnosis, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation for athletes of all levels. We provide tailored treatment to ensure you get back to your sport safely and quickly.
Lucy uses hands-on manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage, and other manual interventions, to relieve pain and stiffness, enhance movement, and restore function.
Acupuncture is a therapeutic technique used to stimulate specific points on the body to relieve pain and promote healing. It is particularly effective for treating musculoskeletal pain, and Lucy uses it as part of her holistic approach to physiotherapy.
Rehabilitation exercises are an essential component of physiotherapy. Lucy will guide you through exercises designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and restore normal movement patterns. These exercises are personalised to your condition and help support long-term recovery.
At Optimist Physiotherapy, we focus on delivering personalised care with a strong emphasis on your individual needs. Lucy’s vast experience in sports and clinical physiotherapy enables her to provide a thorough, bespoke service that prioritises your wellbeing.
We understand that your time is valuable, which is why Optimist Physiotherapy offers flexible appointment times to suit your schedule. Whether you prefer to visit the clinic or require home visits, we are committed to delivering excellent service in a manner that is convenient for you.
Lucy’s personal interest in sports and fitness informs her professional practice. She believes in the power of regular exercise for physical and mental health and stays fit herself by attending daily classes at ADVHQ in Henley-on-Thames. This dedication to fitness enables her to relate to her patients and offer advice on maintaining overall health and wellbeing.
