About Paul Opperman and Spinology

Paul Opperman is a highly experienced Spinologist based in Diep River, South Africa. He began his journey in the field in 1982 when he qualified at the Philadelphia Spinal Tutorium, under the tutelage of the late Dr. Reggie Gold, a pioneer in Spinology. Paul is the last practising Spinologist from that era in South Africa. Despite being completely blind, Paul has continued to pursue his passion for Spinology and has dedicated his life to helping individuals restore spinal health and unlock their full potential.

What is Spinology?

Spinology is a philosophy and practice aimed at maintaining proper alignment of the spine. The belief is that when the bones of the spine are in their optimal positions, the body can function at its highest potential. Spinology seeks to keep the spine’s bones in the correct relationships with each other to ensure the nervous system can operate effectively, facilitating overall health and well-being. Though scientific advancements have been made in the field over the years, the core principles that Paul practices remain unchanged.

Spinology operates on the premise that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself when given the right conditions. However, spinal obstructions or misalignments can interfere with the body’s natural processes, which is where Spinology steps in to provide support.

Services Offered

Paul Opperman offers a range of services focused on spinal health and well-being. The primary treatment involves gentle, targeted adjustments to the spine to help restore alignment and allow the body to heal. Paul works closely with each individual, assessing their specific needs and offering personalised care to address spinal issues effectively.

  • Spinal Adjustments: Through gentle thrusts on the spine, Spinology aims to assist the body in correcting spinal obstructions. The goal is not to directly “correct” the misalignment, but rather to help the body utilise its muscles to correct the issue. This allows the body to regain its natural alignment and function more optimally.

  • Postural Assessments: Poor posture is often a contributing factor to spinal obstructions. Paul offers thorough postural assessments to help individuals understand how their posture may be impacting their spinal health.

  • Pain Relief and Rehabilitation: By addressing spinal misalignments, Paul provides relief from conditions like back pain, neck pain, and tension. Spinology can also help with rehabilitation by improving spinal function and mobility, reducing discomfort, and enhancing overall body performance.

What Causes Spinal Obstructions?
Spinal obstructions, also known as spinal misalignments, can be caused by various factors. Common causes include physical trauma, such as falls and accidents, emotional and physical stress, poor posture, and other life events. These obstructions can interfere with nerve impulses, which may weaken the muscles responsible for correcting spinal misalignments. As a result, the body’s natural healing ability may be compromised.
