Rashmi Maru Psychotherapist UK has over 30 years of experience in the mental health field. Her work spans the NHS, Local Authority, voluntary, and private sectors. This deep and broad foundation equips her to offer highly personalized therapy. She works with adults, young people, parents, and families who face emotional, psychological, and mental health challenges.
Moreover, Rashmi’s extensive training enables her to approach each client with cultural sensitivity and clinical confidence. Her goal is to help every client feel seen, heard, and supported. Transitioning from psychiatric nursing to psychotherapy, Rashmi built a robust foundation in therapeutic care.
Rashmi’s journey began in psychiatric nursing, where she developed strong community ties. This experience led her to pursue further training in psychotherapy. Her postgraduate training took place at University College London (UCL) and Nafsiyat—the Intercultural Psychotherapy Centre in North London.
Her studies focused on psychoanalytic approaches, cultural psychiatry, and medical anthropology. These teachings shaped her deep understanding of the intersection between culture, identity, and mental health. Consequently, she brings a unique lens to psychotherapy in today’s diverse society.
Rashmi holds an MSc in Intercultural Psychotherapy and is accredited with the UKCP. She is also a Registered Mental Health Nurse. These qualifications reflect both her academic commitment and practical experience. Importantly, her training emphasized recognizing cultural differences and how they affect therapeutic relationships.
Her ability to perceive emotional and mental distress—whether expressed behaviorally, verbally, or somatically—makes her practice especially effective. Clients benefit from her ability to connect across cultural lines with authenticity and care.
Rashmi offers personalized mental health treatment rooted in evidence-based methods. Each therapy plan addresses your specific needs while considering the cultural and personal factors that shape your experience. You can expect warm, focused care from your very first session.
