Rebecca Arnold Art Psychotherapist Manchester offers a unique and powerful form of therapy for those who may not find verbal therapies helpful. I deliver focused, specialist art psychotherapy groups across multiple multidisciplinary teams. I work as an independent clinician, tailoring each session to meet individual needs using assessments, formulation, and treatment plans.
My approach blends psychodynamic theory, brief solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness. I apply a trauma-informed framework to every aspect of my work. Because of this, clients feel safe, understood, and empowered.
With over 17 years of experience, I bring clinical expertise and a deep understanding of mental health. I work with adults and young people across a variety of services. Whether you are dealing with trauma, anxiety, or depression, I can offer a creative alternative to traditional talking therapies.
Art therapy lets you communicate feelings that are difficult to express with words. Clients often say that working with art materials feels like discovering a new voice. They create images that connect past and present experiences, leading to greater self-awareness and emotional clarity.
Art therapy sessions are proven to lower cortisol levels, which reduces stress. After just one session, many clients report feeling calmer and more grounded. The creative process promotes a sense of control and choice—vital for recovery and resilience.
Through structured reflection, individuals can explore their emotions, experiences, and patterns. This builds insight, confidence, and emotional intelligence.
As an HCPC-registered art psychotherapist, I am also a member of the British Association of Art Therapists. My academic background includes:
BA (Hons) Fine Art – Leeds Metropolitan University
Creative Therapy Diploma – Stockport College
Postgraduate Diploma in Art Psychotherapy – University of Sheffield
Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy – The British Association of Art Therapists
I am currently based at Priory Hospital Altrincham, working with a diverse range of mental health conditions.
