Ruth Sadler Physiotherapy Wakefield provides expert, personalised care for people living with neurological conditions. With 26 years of experience, She works across Ossett and Wakefield to help clients improve mobility, independence, and confidence.
Ruth qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998, earning her BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from The University of Liverpool. She began her NHS career at Pinderfields and Pontefract, rotating through areas like neurology, musculoskeletal care, and paediatrics. This foundation gave her wide experience and sparked her lasting interest in neurorehabilitation.
By 2001, Ruth had stepped into a lead role at a specialist centre for young adults. There, she worked closely with patients recovering from stroke, spinal injuries, and traumatic brain injuries. She developed expertise in postural care and hydrotherapy, always focusing on patient progress and comfort.
After several years in clinical settings, Ruth moved into community-based care. She provided support for people with long-term neurological conditions, such as MS, Parkinson’s, and MND. As a physiotherapist working both in clinics and in clients’ homes, she helped patients stay as independent as possible.
During this period, Ruth collaborated with other services to deliver well-rounded support. She worked alongside the voluntary sector, wheelchair services, and equipment providers. As a result, many patients maintained a better quality of life at home.
In 2005, Ruth returned to Pinderfields to work on a newly developed stroke unit. She completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Studies and focused on acute stroke care and respiratory support. As part of a skilled team, she shaped care pathways and provided training to healthcare staff.
Ruth’s passion for improvement led her into management. She became a therapy service lead in 2014, overseeing multiple therapy services, including outpatients, pain clinics, and orthopaedics. She introduced new care models and made therapy services more efficient and patient-focused.
In 2019, Ruth joined the Care Quality Commission as an Inspection Manager. There, she led hospital inspections and contributed to national projects focused on better care for people with learning disabilities. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to clinical work, volunteering in a spinal injury unit.
Currently, Ruth provides home-based care for clients with complex neurological needs. She uses hands-on therapy, patient education, and goal-setting to create personalised treatment plans. Depending on the situation, she may also use techniques like taping, muscle stimulation, and myofascial release.
Alongside her private work, Ruth is the physiotherapy clinical lead in a post-16 special education setting. She helps young people with physical and learning challenges maximise their movement and independence.
Her aim remains the same across every role—support each person to reach their potential.

Her additional techniques—like taping, myofascial release, and muscle stimulation—enhance each treatment plan.
