About Us

Sheffield Physiotherapy is a leading clinic located on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield. We specialise in treating spinal and sports injuries, arthritis, and muscular problems. As a modern clinic, we continually invest in the latest technology to provide the most effective care to our patients.

Our team consists of highly skilled practitioners who bring a wealth of experience and passion to their work. They ensure every patient receives personalised treatment tailored to their unique needs.

Meet Lewis Payne

Lewis Payne graduated in 2013 from The University of Nottingham with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy. Initially, he worked as the first team physiotherapist for Sheffield F.C. before focusing on private practice. Over the past ten years, Lewis has helped Sheffield Physiotherapy grow into one of the most technologically advanced clinics in the country. Despite this, he maintains a strong hands-on approach.

Lewis specialises in treating complex spinal conditions such as disc pathology and scoliosis. He leads the clinic’s IDD Therapy programme and has performed over 6000 treatments. Additionally, Lewis offers MRI referrals and reviews, correlating imaging results with symptoms to provide clearer diagnoses and guide effective treatment plans.

His unique methodology views the body as a tensegrity structure—a system where bones float within a tensioned matrix of soft tissues. This insight helps Lewis identify the root causes of pain and dysfunction. He excels in postural analysis, soft tissue release techniques, and prescribing biomechanical corrective exercises to improve movement and reduce joint strain.

Meet Gemma Marshall

Gemma Marshall qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Sheffield Hallam University in 2015. She has gained extensive experience in musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy through work within the NHS and private sectors. After studying modules in Contemporary Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Advanced Clinical Reasoning, Gemma ran her own clinic for four years.

During the pandemic, she took on locum roles in Nottingham and Sheffield, helping short-staffed NHS teams. Gemma treats spinal, joint, and soft tissue injuries using manual therapy and exercise prescription. She also adopts a holistic approach, recognising the psychosocial factors that affect chronic pain and rehabilitation. Known for her kind and approachable manner, Gemma quickly helps patients feel at ease and confident in their treatment.
