Description

Shelly Chaudhry Integrative Psychotherapist Surrey – A Compassionate Approach to Mental Health

Shelly Chaudhry Integrative Psychotherapist Surrey has built a strong and diverse foundation in mental health. She currently practices at the Priory Hospital Woking, where she has supported clients since 2018. Her earlier experience includes five transformative years as a mental health assistant at Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks. There, she supported individuals with learning disabilities and autism in a low secure and locked rehabilitation environment.

Before joining the Priory Hospital Woking team, Shelly worked for four years as an integrative psychotherapist with MIND, the leading mental health charity. Working across vibrant and varied London communities, she offered both short-term and long-term therapy. Her clients included people from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as individuals affected by war, violence, and trauma. Through her work, she helped clients tackle anxiety, depression, addictions, anger issues, suicidal ideation, and relationship challenges.

Shelly Chaudhry Integrative Psychotherapist Surrey – Comprehensive Training and Continued Growth

Shelly holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the Open University, completed in 2013. Building on that foundation, she pursued a Master’s in Therapeutic Counselling at Greenwich University. This program took an integrative approach—blending psychodynamic, person-centred, and CBT methods. After earning her MSc, Shelly gained accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Continuing professional development remains a top priority for Shelly. In 2018, she completed advanced training in bereavement therapy, Gestalt chair work, and creative therapies. This ongoing learning ensures she offers clients the most effective, up-to-date support available.

Research-Driven Insight into Men’s Mental Health

Shelly’s academic research focused on an often-overlooked subject: men and mental health. Her final dissertation explored the impact of masculinity, gender expectations, and social stigma on men’s ability to seek help. Motivated by high male suicide rates, she investigated how therapists can better support men by understanding the intersection of masculinity with culture, age, religion, and more. Currently, she continues this vital work by exploring postnatal depression in men—an under-recognized issue that deserves more attention.
