Since January 2012, Mr Maitra has served as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. He has held multiple Trust roles, including Trust Medical Education and Foundation Tutor from 2014 to 2020. Furthermore, he served as the inaugural Guardian of Safe Working Hours between 2016 and 2018. These roles demonstrate his commitment to both patient safety and medical education.

In his leadership capacity, he has been the Training Programme Director (TPD) for ACCS since 2014. From 2016, he also became the Lead TPD for Doctors with Differing Needs (DWDNs) and the ARCP for ACCS, Higher Emergency, and Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine. Additionally, in 2021, he received Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for his outstanding contribution to Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
