Sophie Goodfellow Sports Therapy and Rehab Stoke-on-Trent

About

Sophie Goodfellow brings a wealth of experience and passion to her sports therapy and rehabilitation practice in Stoke-on-Trent. A first-class honours graduate in Sport and Exercise Science from Staffordshire University, Sophie has also completed an advanced Level 5 qualification in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Active Health in Manchester, earning a distinction. Her academic achievements reflect her dedication, further evidenced by over 300 hours of case studies during her training.

Growing up competing at county level in cross country, athletics, and road running, Sophie’s personal experience with sports injuries inspired her career path. This background gives her a unique understanding of both the physical and psychological challenges that injury recovery entails. She strongly believes that sports therapy benefits not only athletes but also those affected by everyday stresses and strains caused by modern lifestyles. Sophie is also a qualified Level 2 Sports First Aider and athletics coach, currently expanding her knowledge through a degree in Health Coaching and Nutrition.

Services

Sophie offers a comprehensive range of services designed to prevent injury and restore optimal function for individuals of all ages and activity levels. Sports therapy focuses on returning clients to peak occupational, functional, and sport-specific fitness. Recognising the impact of daily activities such as desk work, driving, and manual labour on the body, Sophie tailors her treatments to meet individual needs.

Her sports therapy techniques include clinical and postural assessments, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, positional release techniques, soft tissue release and mobilisations, myofascial release, joint mobilisations, exercise therapy, kinesiology taping, as well as mobility and stretching exercises. These therapies aim to address the root causes of dysfunction and pain while promoting long-term recovery.

Sports and remedial massage is another core offering, focusing on soft tissue manipulation to reduce tension, improve flexibility, and prevent injury. Sophie often detects “hot spots” — tender areas that may indicate future problems — before clients notice any symptoms, helping them stay active and pain-free.

Exercise and rehabilitation therapy forms a crucial part of Sophie’s treatment plans. By prescribing targeted exercises, she helps clients restore strength, flexibility, stability, proprioception, endurance, and power, minimising the risk of re-injury and ensuring a safe return to daily activities or sport.

Additionally, Sophie provides myofascial dry cupping, a treatment that uses suction cups to lift soft tissues, encouraging muscle relaxation, increased circulation, pain reduction, toxin removal, and enhanced oxygen and nutrient flow.
