Soumitra Burman-Roy Consultant Psychiatrists London deliver exceptional psychiatric care tailored to individuals across diverse backgrounds. Dr Soumitra Burman-Roy, a highly respected Consultant Psychiatrist, brings deep expertise in both common and complex mental health disorders. He provides trusted assessment and treatment for anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, Adult ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and psychoses such as schizophrenia.
Dr Burman-Roy holds accreditation in general adult psychiatry and a Royal College of Psychiatrists endorsement in Rehabilitation Psychiatry. Throughout his NHS career, he consistently delivered holistic, patient-centred care, working closely with GPs and community services. Furthermore, he has supported both primary and secondary care settings, ensuring that patients receive continuity and quality at every step.
Many students face significant mental health challenges. Recognising this, Dr Burman-Roy regularly collaborates with student support teams and university mental health officers. He also completes Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) assessments when needed, helping students balance treatment and academic performance.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Burman-Roy has vast experience in occupational psychiatry. He addresses work-related stress, burnout, and mental health issues affecting professional life. His training at the Maudsley Hospital’s National Adult ADHD Service sharpened his skills in diagnosing and managing Adult ADHD within occupational settings.
As Primary Care Lead for Maudsley Learning, Dr Burman-Roy leads the design and delivery of mental health training for GPs and primary care teams. He bridges the gap between psychiatry and everyday healthcare, equipping practitioners to better serve their patients.
Dr Burman-Roy remains actively involved in teaching. He trained junior doctors and medical students at prestigious hospitals including Guy’s, King’s College, and St Thomas’. His passion for global mental health led him to work with the World Health Organisation and NGOs in the Maldives, training local staff under the WHO’s Mental Health Gap Action Programme.
He recently appeared on Change by Design’s podcast to explore Adult ADHD, covering everything from assessment to medication. In another feature on BMJ’s Talk Medicine podcast, he discussed the complex topic of Emotionally-Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD), helping listeners gain valuable insight.
