Stephen Cox – Experienced Prosthetist with a Client-Focused Approach
About Stephen
Stephen Cox has worked in prosthetics and orthotics for over 26 years. He graduated from La Trobe University in 1998 and began his clinical career as an orthotist in Melbourne. In 1999, he relocated to Adelaide and joined Prostek. Since then, Stephen has developed a wide range of clinical skills and built strong relationships with his clients.
Throughout his career, Stephen has treated a broad variety of conditions. While he has experience across most areas of prosthetic and orthotic care, his main interest now lies in prosthetics. He enjoys working one-on-one with individuals, helping them improve mobility and independence through customised solutions.
Stephen values a hands-on, practical approach to care. He takes the time to understand each client’s needs, goals, and lifestyle. This allows him to create personalised treatment plans that support better long-term outcomes.
Services
Stephen offers a broad range of prosthetic services. He focuses on the design, fitting, and ongoing support of prosthetic limbs, including:
Lower Limb Prosthetics: Stephen fits devices for below-knee and above-knee amputees. He prioritises comfort, alignment, and functionality in each design.
Upper Limb Prosthetics: He provides tailored solutions for clients with upper limb loss, using both traditional and modern techniques.
Goal-Oriented Treatment: Stephen works with clients to identify practical goals and develop clear steps to achieve them.
Ongoing Care: He adjusts and refines prostheses as clients progress or their needs change.
Although he now specialises in prosthetics, Stephen still applies his orthotic background where helpful. His broad skill set makes him a valuable resource for clients facing complex challenges.
Additional Information
Stephen brings both experience and empathy to his role. Clients appreciate his ability to explain treatment clearly and involve them in each decision. His consistent, calm manner helps build trust, especially during long-term care.
He takes pride in seeing clients regain confidence and achieve goals they once thought out of reach. Whether someone wants to return to work, play sport, or simply move more comfortably each day, Stephen provides the tools and support to help them get there.
As part of the Prostek team in Adelaide, Stephen continues to play a key role in delivering high-quality, client-centred prosthetic care.
