Sue O’Brien Counselling offers professional therapy for individuals and couples, either face to face or online. I work in Cardiff and specialise in relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, guilt, self-harm, disordered eating, and substance use. My therapy focuses on transformation. I help you move from pain to healing, creating a better quality of life.
With over a decade of experience, I use Systemic and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches. These methods help uncover the root causes of distress by exploring your internal “family”—the different parts of you that shape your emotions and behaviours. I guide you to understand these parts and use them for growth.
I provide therapy for a range of issues. Whether you are struggling with personal challenges or seeking growth, my approach ensures you are supported and heard in a safe space.
In individual sessions, I help you explore and overcome challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional pain. Using IFS, we work together to connect with the parts of you that may be in conflict. I help you understand and heal those parts, leading to emotional balance.
Couples therapy focuses on improving relationships. I use IFS and systemic methods to understand both individual and relational dynamics. We explore how each person’s internal parts influence the relationship. This leads to better communication, trust, and a healthier connection.
A Holistic Approach: Therapy isn’t just about managing emotions. It’s about transformation. I believe that difficult emotions and behaviours are opportunities for growth. Together, we transform them into positive forces for change.
The IFS Model: Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us understand our emotional “parts”—the behaviours, thoughts, and feelings that shape us. When these parts are in conflict, they cause distress. I help you heal these parts, creating harmony within yourself and improving your relationships.
Convenient Location & Online Sessions: I am located in Cardiff at 174 Whitchurch Road, CF14 3NB. Online sessions are also available for flexibility.
A Safe Space: I provide a non-judgemental and compassionate space for you to explore your emotions. Confronting difficult feelings can be overwhelming, but I am here to support you through it.
Sue O’Brien Counselling helps you understand your emotional parts and supports you in creating lasting change. If you’re ready to transform your life, I am here to help.
