Sue Thompson Therapist Chelmsford is a compassionate and skilled CAMHS therapist based at the Priory Hospital Chelmsford. She holds registration with both UKCP as an Integrative Child Psychotherapist and MBACP as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. Since November 2018, she has worked with dedication and commitment at the Priory, offering therapeutic support to both adults and young people.
Sue provides therapy for those facing a range of mental health concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. Moreover, she has a special interest in trauma and attachment-related difficulties. Her integrative approach allows her to tailor each session to the individual’s needs, using both creative and evidence-based methods.
Sue’s qualifications reflect a solid commitment to lifelong learning and excellence in therapy. She earned a Master of Arts in Integrative Child Psychotherapy between 2008 and 2014. Earlier, she completed a Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Integrative Counselling from 2003 to 2006. These academic achievements formed the basis of her strong therapeutic practice.
In addition, Sue holds certifications in EMDR therapy, Theraplay, and Rewind Trauma Therapy. This breadth of training equips her to treat a variety of psychological issues with confidence and flexibility. She also holds a certificate in Youth and Community Work and an Access to Mental Health Studies diploma.
Sue continues to deepen her practice through regular professional development. She is currently undertaking the 80-hour Cyber Therapist Training with Kate Anthony, started in May 2020. Her extensive workshop history includes training in EMDR, life story work, safeguarding, advocacy, and trauma-informed care.
Her continued investment in training ensures that clients benefit from modern, effective therapeutic techniques. Importantly, this commitment shows her belief in staying updated with the evolving mental health landscape.
Sue’s experience spans both NHS adult mental health services and CAMHS. As an integrative therapist, she often uses play and creative art mediums when working with children. These tools help young people express themselves in non-verbal, developmentally appropriate ways.
Her approach is relational and client-centered. With warmth and empathy, she builds a therapeutic space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported. She collaborates with clients to work through difficult emotions, build resilience, and restore emotional balance.
Clients choose Sue Thompson Therapist Chelmsford because of her genuine care, professional integrity, and broad expertise. Her combination of experience, training, and ongoing education makes her an exceptional choice for anyone seeking meaningful and effective therapy.
Whether you’re a parent looking for support for your child or an adult struggling with emotional challenges, Sue brings clarity, connection, and healing into every session. She is not just a therapist – she is a trusted guide through life’s most difficult moments.
