At Surf Coast Physiotherapy & Pilates, we focus on women’s pelvic health and postnatal care. Our women’s health physiotherapists provide expert support tailored to you. We know pelvic health is personal, so we create a safe space where you can talk openly and work towards lasting improvement.
Our team helps with many pelvic floor issues, including:
Learning how to correctly activate and do pelvic floor exercises
Managing urinary incontinence, both stress and urge types
Treating overactive bladder
Reducing pelvic pain
Relaxing an overactive pelvic floor
Addressing sexual function problems
Helping with bowel problems like constipation, faecal incontinence, rectal pain, and fissures
Managing pelvic organ prolapse, including pessary care
Treating obstetric injuries like 3rd and 4th degree tears
Supporting pelvic floor issues after menopause
Helping those who struggle to feel or contract their pelvic floor muscles
Treating bladder pain syndrome (once called Interstitial Cystitis)
Relieving coccyx (tailbone) pain
Pelvic floor consultations usually include an internal exam to best check muscle function, but you don’t have to if you prefer not to. Like any muscle group, the pelvic floor can be trained for strength, control, and endurance. We design exercise plans based on what you need and what we find during your assessment.
We recommend a postnatal check to help with any issues after pregnancy and to stop problems before they start. We consider your past activity levels and your goals—whether you want to manage daily mum duties or return to running and tough workouts.
You can book a pelvic floor check once your bleeding has stopped and after your first check-up with your GP or obstetrician. Remember, from a pelvic floor point of view, once you’re postnatal, you always are—until you fix it!
We offer scar care for C-section and episiotomy scars. This involves hands-on treatment and teaching you simple techniques to use at home to help scars heal better and hurt less.
Abdominal separation is common in pregnancy, but sometimes it doesn’t heal well and causes back or pelvic floor problems. We check how bad the separation is and give you a rehab plan. This might be quick advice and exercises or full physio or Pilates sessions at Berth Geelong.
Our physios at Berth Geelong have special training in postnatal care, diastasis recti, and Pilates for new mums. We want to help you get strong, confident, and comfortable again so you can enjoy life after having your baby.
