About Susan McKendry MSW, RSW

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario, Canada. I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers (#803190). With over 30 years of experience, I provide quality mental health services to individuals facing emotional and psychological challenges.

I graduated from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) in 1992. Later, I completed my Master’s Degree in Social Work (Honours) at the University of Toronto in 1993. I also earned an Anxiety Specialist CBT Certification from the University of Toronto in 2016 and became a Certified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the Canadian Association of CBT Therapists.

My career includes work in mental health services, youth rehabilitation, custody access, and crisis intervention. I founded my private practice in 2000, focusing on young adults and adults dealing with anxiety and depression.

Services Offered

I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for a range of mental health issues. Through a collaborative approach, we identify the thoughts and behaviours causing distress and develop healthier strategies to manage them.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is an effective treatment for conditions such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Phobias

  • Panic attacks

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Trauma

  • Eating disorders

  • Substance abuse

CBT focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It helps individuals challenge negative thought patterns, improving emotional responses and behaviours. CBT is goal-oriented and time-limited, with clients often seeing improvement after just a few sessions.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

I also offer Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is especially helpful for individuals with anxiety disorders and OCD.

In ERP, you face triggers that cause anxiety while avoiding the compulsive behaviours that follow. Over time, this reduces anxiety and helps you manage difficult situations without relying on compulsions.

Additional Information

I have over 500 hours of CBT training and continue my professional development. This training has enabled me to provide the best possible care for my clients.

Sessions are personalised to meet each client’s needs. I work with you to set achievable goals and encourage self-help tasks between sessions.

Fees are $150 per session, and I accept cash, cheque, or e-transfer. Receipts are provided for insurance purposes.

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or other challenges, reach out today. Let’s start your journey toward recovery.
