Terence Nice Psychotherapist Kent brings over 25 years of clinical experience, research, and teaching in the field of psychotherapy. Dr Terence Nice is the Emeritus Director of Psychotherapy and Internal Examiner at the University of Kent. He also lectures at Regent’s University London, where he continues to shape the future of psychotherapeutic training.
He trained in psychoanalytical psychotherapy at the University of Kent and went on to complete an MA in Infant Observation at the Tavistock Clinic, London. Dr Nice has always been deeply interested in early developmental experiences. These early life experiences strongly influence emotional and psychological health throughout adolescence and adulthood. As a result, his work focuses on understanding and healing the roots of complex psychopathology.
Throughout his distinguished career, Terence Nice Psychotherapist Kent has contributed significantly to both practice and academic research. He co-developed the innovative Mind and Body Programme. In 2017, he received the UK Public Mental Health and Wellbeing Award for his contributions to the field.
He is also a senior psychotherapist at the Priory, where he works with a range of mental health conditions. His research has led to collaborations with regional authorities on serious case reviews and large-scale mental health projects. Additionally, Dr Nice is a regular reviewer for the British Journal of Psychotherapy and has published extensively on self-harm and suicide in young people.
