The Autism Service – In-Person Autism & ADHD Assessments in Birmingham
About Us
Welcome to The Autism Service, a clinician-owned psychology practice in Birmingham, offering expert autism and ADHD assessments. Our team of experienced professionals provides support with compassion and clinical accuracy, ensuring every client feels seen, heard, and respected.
Because our service is led by clinicians, we prioritise clinical integrity over convenience. We firmly believe that in-person assessments deliver deeper insights than online alternatives. Therefore, we choose to conduct all autism and ADHD assessments face-to-face. This decision reflects our commitment to doing what’s best for our clients—not what’s easiest for us.
Our Approach
We base our work on two core principles, which guide every decision we make and every assessment we complete.
1. We Commit to a Thorough, In-Person Process
From the start, we’ve followed a clear and consistent assessment pathway. We continue to use this approach today because it works. Rather than relying on virtual tools alone, we conduct every autism and ADHD assessment in person. This allows us to observe behaviours directly and form a more accurate understanding of each individual's needs.
Although some providers have moved toward virtual assessments, we choose not to take shortcuts. Our priority is to deliver assessments that are comprehensive and reliable.
2. We Focus on Accurate, Respectful Diagnosis
Booking an assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis. Instead, our clinicians assess whether the individual meets the diagnostic criteria for autism or ADHD. While awareness of these conditions has increased, we must remember they remain relatively uncommon. As a result, accurate diagnosis requires care and professional judgement.
Because of this, we evaluate every case thoroughly. Each month, we conduct around 100 assessments, and external organisations have never successfully disputed one of our diagnoses. This reflects our commitment to clinical rigour and honest reporting.
Additional Information
We understand that seeking an assessment can be a significant step. For that reason, we aim to make the process as clear and supportive as possible. Our clinicians take time to explain each stage and ensure that clients feel comfortable and informed.
Whether you're a parent seeking answers or an adult exploring neurodiversity, we're here to support you with respect, clarity, and compassion.
