The Launchpad: Nicole Comninellis Inc. Physiotherapy is a multidisciplinary physiotherapy practice located in the heart of Claremont. At the forefront of our team is Cathryn Fourie, an experienced physiotherapist with a passion for paediatrics and neonatal care. With a diverse background spanning both public and private sectors, Cathryn brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to every client she serves.
Having graduated with a BSc Physiotherapy degree from the University of Cape Town (UCT), Cathryn’s early career involved clinical rotations at St Joseph’s Home and Bel Porto School, which set the stage for her extensive work in paediatrics. She went on to complete her community service year at the renowned Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in 2019, where she honed her skills in neonatal intensive care (NICU), paediatric intensive care (PICU), and various paediatric wards.
After several years of providing specialised care in Johannesburg, Cathryn joined H.O.P.E. Studio and the Early Bird Therapy Centre, where she worked as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic services for NICU and paediatric clients, including aquatic therapy. Now, having relocated to Cape Town with her husband and canine companion JD, she is eager to bring her expertise to The Launchpad.
At The Launchpad, we provide a variety of physiotherapy services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. With Cathryn’s expertise and experience, particularly in paediatrics and neonatal care, we offer the following services:
Our physiotherapy services for children are centred around early intervention strategies, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children with a variety of physical challenges. Cathryn works closely with a team of multidisciplinary practitioners (MDT) to create comprehensive care plans. The focus is on helping children overcome physical obstacles while supporting their emotional and developmental needs.
With a deep passion for neonatal care, Cathryn provides expert rehabilitation for preterm infants and young children who have experienced trauma or medical complications. The services include:
As a qualified aquatic therapist, Cathryn offers aquatic physiotherapy for both paediatric and adult clients. This form of therapy uses the therapeutic properties of water to aid rehabilitation, improve strength, and reduce pain. It is particularly effective for clients with movement difficulties, developmental delays, and those recovering from surgery or trauma.
Trauma recovery is another key area of focus at The Launchpad. Whether recovering from physical injury or emotional trauma, our approach combines physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques to help clients regain their strength, confidence, and quality of life.
Our physiotherapy services also include post-operative rehabilitation, helping clients recover and regain full function after surgery. Through tailored exercise programmes, manual therapy, and other treatments, we aim to support a full recovery process, addressing any challenges that may arise.
Cathryn is committed to ongoing professional development, having completed several advanced courses and certifications, including:
With her extensive training and hands-on experience, Cathryn is well-equipped to handle a variety of paediatric and adult physiotherapy needs.
Whether you are seeking support for a child’s development, recovering from trauma, or managing a physical condition, The Launchpad: Nicole Comninellis Inc. Physiotherapy is here to help you and your family achieve your goals with expert care and attention.
