About the Clinic

The Nottingham Sports Injury Clinic is the flagship location of the PhysioNeeds group, which now operates three clinics across Nottinghamshire. Established in 1995 by Abigail Tomlinson’s parents, it has built a strong reputation for expert physiotherapy and sports injury care. In January 2024, Abigail and her husband Stephen took over ownership, continuing a family legacy that began in 1982.

The clinic focuses on musculoskeletal rehabilitation and overall well-being. It offers a friendly, supportive environment where patients feel valued and cared for. Abigail is passionate about running a clinic that promotes recovery through innovative treatments and excellent patient care.

Services Offered

At Nottingham Sports Injury Clinic, the team provides a broad range of tailored treatments. They work with people of all ages and abilities, helping them recover from injury, reduce pain, and improve function.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
The clinic specialises in musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injuries, post-operative care, and chronic pain. Each patient receives a detailed assessment followed by a personalised treatment plan to meet their goals.

Sports Massage Therapy
Skilled therapists deliver sports massage to ease muscle tension, enhance recovery, and improve circulation. These sessions benefit athletes and anyone experiencing muscular tightness or discomfort.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture complements physiotherapy treatments and has produced impressive results. Abigail integrates this technique when appropriate to support healing.

Pilates Classes
Abigail leads weekly Pilates groups, including antenatal and postnatal classes. These sessions build core strength and flexibility in a safe, welcoming environment.

Equestrian Physiotherapy
Drawing on her experience as an international-level event rider, Abigail offers specialised equestrian physiotherapy. She assesses riders’ posture and movement to help improve both rider and horse performance.

Additional Information

Abigail Tomlinson graduated from Northumbria University with first-class honours in Physiotherapy. She has gained additional qualifications in sports massage, acupuncture, and Pilates. Her passion for physiotherapy began early, inspired by her mother’s work in the field. Abigail loves seeing patients regain mobility and return to activities they enjoy.

Outside the clinic, Abigail competes in British Eventing and Dressage at a high level. She brings her equestrian knowledge into her practice, helping riders optimise their posture and performance through targeted physiotherapy.

With a dedicated team and access to the latest treatments, Nottingham Sports Injury Clinic remains committed to helping patients achieve their best health. Whether recovering from injury or managing ongoing conditions, the clinic supports every step of the way with expert care and a personal touch.
