Hello, I’m Val Bews, a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in Liverpool. I offer Integrative Psychotherapy to both individuals and couples, with a focus on creating a safe, supportive space where you feel understood and empowered. My approach is grounded in compassion, and I work collaboratively with you to explore your challenges and work towards meaningful change.
With many years of experience in the field, I have supported clients facing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, addictions, bereavement, and relationship issues. I draw on various therapeutic tools and models, adapting them to suit your unique needs. This flexibility is key to my integrative approach, allowing me to respond to the individual complexities of each client.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 33 years working within the social care sector, which has shaped my understanding of the challenges people face in different areas of life. My background has provided me with a deep empathy for those who may feel overwhelmed or lost, and I believe that everyone has the potential to change and live the life they desire, free from fear, doubt, and confusion. While the path to healing may take time, my goal is to guide you towards the life you envision for yourself.
I provide Integrative Psychotherapy tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. This approach combines various therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy, among others. By drawing on these tools, I can offer a comprehensive and adaptable treatment plan designed specifically for you.
Some of the key areas I specialise in include:
Anxiety and depression
Stress management
Addictions
Bereavement and grief
Relationship issues (individuals and couples)
Weight issues and complex relationships with food
A special area of focus for me is helping individuals struggling with weight issues. I have dedicated several years to researching the complex relationships people have with food. From this research, I have developed a series of effective tools and training packages to support clients in addressing emotional eating, body image issues, and long-term weight management.
My work is holistic, addressing both the psychological and emotional aspects of the issues at hand. By combining in-depth psychotherapy with practical tools and strategies, I help clients make lasting changes.
I offer both in-person and online sessions, providing flexibility for clients with varying needs and schedules. My practice is inclusive, welcoming clients from all walks of life. Whether you’re dealing with deep emotional challenges or simply seeking personal growth, I am here to provide guidance and support.
Choosing therapy is an important step, and it’s normal to feel uncertain at first. Rest assured, I am here to help you work through any fears or doubts you may have and to create a supportive space where you can feel heard and understood.
If you are ready to take the next step towards healing or are seeking a way forward through life’s challenges, please get in touch to discuss how we can work together.
