At Wellwithin Counselling, we are a team of dedicated professionals with a shared mission: to help individuals, families, and communities overcome life’s challenges and thrive. We understand the importance of providing support in a compassionate and non-judgemental manner. Our team is led by Paula Jacobs, a highly experienced therapist with a background in nursing, psychology, and trauma therapy.
With nearly three decades of experience, Paula brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice. She is passionate about understanding human behaviour, especially when it comes to children and families. Drawing from her diverse experiences, she is particularly skilled in addressing issues related to neurobiology, polyvagal theory, trauma, and family dynamics.
We work closely with first responders and their families, bringing a unique understanding of the emotional toll that serving others can take. The goal of our practice is to offer a therapeutic space where healing and growth are possible, both for individuals and their families.
We provide a wide array of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Whether you are struggling with trauma, family issues, or emotional difficulties, our team is here to help.
We offer individual counselling for a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Our therapists take a collaborative approach, empowering you to take control of your journey towards healing. We focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and respect, allowing you to feel comfortable and supported in your process.
Family dynamics can be complex, and when challenges arise, it can affect the entire household. Our family counselling services are designed to help families navigate conflict, strengthen communication, and rebuild relationships. We work with families to foster stronger emotional connections, ensuring everyone has the tools and support they need to thrive together.
As a registered play therapist, Paula Jacobs offers specialised play therapy for children. Through therapeutic play, children can express their emotions, process trauma, and develop coping skills in a safe and supportive environment. This approach is particularly helpful for young children who may find it difficult to articulate their feelings through words.
Trauma can have a lasting impact on a person’s life, but healing is possible. Paula uses a range of trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), to help clients process past trauma and move forward. Trauma therapy is tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring that healing happens at a pace that feels right for them.
Karisa, a dedicated occupational therapist, offers support for neurodivergent children, youth, and their families. She helps clients address sensory processing issues, executive functioning difficulties, and socio-emotional communication challenges. By focusing on the individual’s strengths and interests, Karisa assists in developing skills that allow children and their families to engage in everyday activities with confidence and joy.
Our team members have a range of specialisations, but we all share a commitment to offering compassionate, client-focused care. We utilise evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and more. We are committed to creating a safe space for clients to explore their challenges and work towards meaningful change.
Whether you are seeking help for yourself, your child, or your family, Wellwithin Counselling is here to support you. If you’re ready to take the first step towards healing, we encourage you to reach out and book a free consultation.
