The friend who cries at movie trailers (and everything else)
I’m the human equivalent of a mimosa plant. A gentle breeze – a sarcastic remark, a forgotten birthday text – and I’m folding in on myself, leaves drooping.
Yeah, I’m that friend. The one who cries at movie trailers, needs a hug after a heartwarming commercial, and can dissect a seemingly harmless comment for hidden meaning.
My friends are (mostly) used to it. They know that a playful tease can leave me feeling hurt, and a lighthearted critique can turn into a personal roast in my head.
It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humour, everything just feels a little sharper for me.
Sometimes, it’s annoying. Like, come on, it’s just a movie about a dog finding his way home! But other times, I see it as a strength. I care deeply, I wear my heart on my sleeve (sometimes a bit too literally), and I appreciate the beauty in the little things.
Plus, who else is going to sob uncontrollably at that heartwarming commercial about kittens and senior citizens?
Being the sensitive one isn’t always easy, but it’s who I am. And hey, at least I always have tissues on hand. Just in case.
