At Cape Knee Clinic, Dr. Hayden Hobbs provides comprehensive care for a wide range of knee conditions, specialising in both conservative treatments and advanced surgical solutions. With a deep passion for sports and an active lifestyle, Dr. Hobbs focuses on treating knee injuries across all age groups, emphasising both rehabilitation and surgery when necessary.
Dr. Hobbs graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1999 and went on to complete his specialist orthopaedic training in South Africa, obtaining the FC Orth (SA) qualification and an MMed Orth from the University of Cape Town in 2009. His expertise was further developed through prestigious fellowships with leaders in the field, such as Dr Willem van der Merwe in Cape Town, Professor Johan Bellemans in Belgium, and Professor Philippe Neyret in France. These experiences enhanced his skills in arthroscopic, reconstructive, and degenerative knee surgery.
Dr. Hobbs is an active member of the South African Knee Society and has served as the President from 2017 to 2019. He is currently a consultant knee surgeon at Groote Schuur Hospital and is actively involved in training registrars, as well as contributing to research in the field.

Dr. Hobbs’ private practice is based at Life Orthopaedic Hospital at Vincent Pallotti, in association with the Sports Science Orthopaedic Clinic and the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. In addition, he is a consultant knee surgeon at Groote Schuur Hospital, where he co-heads the Knee Unit and contributes to research and training.
