At Maropeng Integrative Counselling, we embrace a holistic approach to mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The name Maropeng translates to “ruins,” symbolising the remnants of ancient healing practices that continue to influence modern therapeutic methods. Our philosophy revolves around the belief that the body and mind are inherently connected, and true healing arises from addressing both aspects together.
We employ a range of therapies, combining Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Transpersonal Therapy. These approaches empower clients to explore and overcome their challenges in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. Our aim is to support you on your healing journey as a fellow traveller, working alongside you to facilitate positive change.
We believe in authenticity and pragmatism, ensuring that each client receives a tailored approach to their needs. By integrating body-mind and mind-body techniques, we create a space for clients to heal using the most accessible and natural tools available to them.
At Maropeng, we understand that each person’s journey is unique. We offer individual counselling for a variety of concerns, including:
Technology overuse
Fertility issues
Parents of preemies
Depression and anxiety
Life adjustments and transitions
Grief and loss
Whether you’re seeking support with a personal challenge or looking for guidance on overcoming emotional barriers, we are here to help. Our integrative approach allows us to explore the root causes of your concerns, promoting healing at a deep level.
Our lifestyle counselling services are designed to help you manage and improve various aspects of your life. This may include support with stress management, work-life balance, or guidance on adopting a healthier mindset. We also address nutritional psychology, helping you understand the powerful link between diet and emotional well-being.
We believe in the healing power of nature, which has been used for centuries to restore balance and health. As part of our holistic approach, we integrate natural solutions into therapy. These can include practices like meditation, yoga, and time spent in nature to promote relaxation and healing. We recognise that nature provides everything necessary for human well-being, and by tapping into its restorative energy, we can help you achieve lasting transformation.
Naniki Sorensen, the founder of Maropeng Counselling Services, has always been passionate about working with people. After qualifying as a lawyer, she found herself increasingly disconnected from the personal side of her work, prompting a career shift to a non-profit organisation in Limpopo. This led her to pursue a Psychology degree, earning her Honours in Psychology at Wits University and a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Bastyr University in Washington State, USA, with a focus on biopsychosocial and spiritual health.
Naniki is also a registered Specialist Wellness Counsellor with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP), ensuring the highest standards of care. In her personal life, she makes time for yoga, meditation, and reading, and enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and a commitment to offering compassionate, professional care.
If you’re ready to begin your journey towards healing, contact Maropeng Counselling Services today. We look forward to walking alongside you, providing the support and tools you need to thrive.
