DR Wilkerson Gastrointestinal Surgeon Bristol: Leading the Way in Upper GI Surgery

DR Wilkerson Gastrointestinal Surgeon Bristol is a highly skilled consultant with extensive experience in minimally invasive and endoscopic treatments for oesophageal and gastric diseases. I have been practising in Bristol since 2015, providing specialist care at the regional center for oesophagogastric cancer. As one of two consultants offering the full range of endoscopic treatments for Barrett’s oesophagus in this cancer network, I am dedicated to improving patient care.

Specialising in Minimally Invasive Treatments

As a gastrointestinal surgeon in Bristol, I focus on offering minimally invasive solutions. My expertise includes keyhole surgeries and endoscopic treatments. These procedures cover hernia surgery, gall bladder surgery, and surgeries for reflux and achalasia. Additionally, I treat complex gastrointestinal conditions with these advanced techniques.

Commitment to Quality Care in Barrett’s Oesophagus

I am particularly interested in Barrett’s oesophagus. This has led me to coordinate a network-wide focus group. Our goal is to standardise and improve the care for patients with this condition. To achieve this, I work closely with my colleague, Andrew Hollowood. Together, we aim to enhance patient outcomes in the cancer network.

Expertise in Upper GI Multidisciplinary Teams

I am also the chair of the Upper GI Multidisciplinary Team at Weston General Hospital. Here, I provide an outreach service for upper GI cancer and complex benign conditions. I collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and effective care.

Leadership in Surgical Quality Improvement

At University Hospitals Bristol (UHB), I lead the mortality review for the division of surgery. This role involves coordinating the learning from deaths program. It helps improve the quality of care for all surgical teams. Additionally, I am the surgical lead for Emergency Laparotomy. Alongside anaesthetists, I work on quality improvements for high-risk surgeries.

A Strong Partnership in Advanced Gastrointestinal Care

In my role as a consultant, I partner with Andrew Hollowood. Together, we advance gastrointestinal care at Spire Bristol Hospital. We focus on providing the latest treatment techniques and offering holistic care to patients.

In conclusion, I am dedicated to providing the highest standard of care. With years of experience, I focus on minimally invasive treatments. These techniques promote faster recovery and better outcomes for patients with complex GI issues.
