Gautam Mehra Obstetrics & Gynaecology London is led by Mr. Gautam Mehra, a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He also offers private consultations at The Lister Hospital and The London Bridge Hospital.
Mr. Mehra graduated in 1996 and completed core training in gynaecology in London. He trained at prestigious institutions, including St Bartholomew’s, St George’s, Queen Charlotte’s, and Chelsea & Hammersmith Hospitals. Additionally, he underwent advanced training in complex gynaecological pelvic surgery, with a focus on laparoscopic surgery. In 2012, he completed specialist training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and The Kent Oncology Centre in Maidstone. Mr. Mehra became a Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in 2014.
Gautam Mehra Obstetrics & Gynaecology London has a particular focus on cancer prevention and fertility preservation. Mr. Mehra leads the Rapid-Access one-stop outpatient clinic and the gynaecology group for BRCA mutation at Guy’s and St Thomas’. These services are designed for patients at higher risk of gynaecological cancer. He provides counselling, treatment options, and fertility-preserving solutions for those affected by gynaecological cancers. His expertise ensures that patients receive tailored care, addressing both their health and fertility concerns.
As the lead for robotic surgery in Gynaecology at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, Mr. Mehra introduced the robotic surgery programme. He is actively pursuing a PhD in robotics at King’s College, focusing on innovations in robotic surgery. His research includes laparoscopic surgery, new techniques in sentinel lymph node detection for gynaecological cancers, and fertility-preserving treatments. Mr. Mehra is also the Principal Investigator for the PROTECTOR multicenter research trial at Guy’s and St Thomas’.
Gautam Mehra Obstetrics & Gynaecology London is not only focused on patient care but also on advancing the field through education. Mr. Mehra has been invited to speak at international conferences and has published numerous research papers on gynaecology and oncology. He co-authored a textbook on laparoscopic surgery. Additionally, he trains senior consultants and medical trainees through live surgical workshops. As the preceptor for the Advanced Training Skills Module in Gynaecological Oncology at the London Deanery, he plays a key role in educating future specialists.
Mr. Mehra holds senior accreditations, including being a senior colposcopist accredited by the BSCCP since 2007. He is a member of several prestigious medical societies, including the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), the British & Irish Association of Robotic Surgeons (BIARGS), and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncologists (ESGO). He is also the President of the London Chapter for the Federation of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of India (FOGSI).
