Stephen P Pereira Gastroenterologist London is a highly respected consultant and professor, widely recognised for his work in hepatology and gastroenterology. He began his medical journey at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. After completing his initial studies, he pursued postgraduate training at Guy’s and King’s College hospitals in London.
To deepen his expertise, he trained in advanced endoscopy across Paris, Amsterdam, and Indianapolis. This international experience shaped his unique clinical approach. Since 2000, he has served as a consultant at University College Hospital. Additionally, he joined the Royal Free Hospital in 2008. Alongside these roles, he is also a Professor at UCL, where he educates the next generation of specialists.
Professor Pereira’s focus extends beyond clinical practice. He has made significant contributions to medical research and academic leadership. His research group works closely with clinical services at UCLH and the Royal Free. Together, they explore causes and treatments for pancreatic and liver cancers.
His interests also cover benign biliary and pancreatic diseases. These complex cases often require referral to tertiary centres like UCLH. Because of this, his input is sought after nationally.
Throughout his career, Professor Pereira has held prestigious positions. He served as Chairman of the British Society of Gastroenterology’s Pancreatic Section. He is also a past President of the Pancreatic Society of GB&I. Currently, he leads endoscopy efforts for the HPB Board of London Cancer. Furthermore, he advises key research bodies like Guts UK and the British Society of Gastroenterology.
Professor Pereira offers advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography)
