A Professional Perspective
Nick Speirs Insight Counselling WolverhamptonMy name is Nick Speirs, and I am an experienced professional counsellor based in the west midlands. A simple enough statement of introduction, however for a prospective client reading this, it will hold its own significance. You will have found yourself on what might have been a long journey, carrying with you any number of thoughts, feelings and questions, in the hope that you might find an answer.I offer a safe, calm environment in a pleasant comfortable room. There you will have a confidential space where together we can begin to explore the issues, which have brought you to this point in your life. It may be of some comfort to you, to have a sense of other people’s journeys, even though yours will be utterly unique to yourself. Maybe look at some of those journeys cited on my Testimonials page.Counselling is a commitment both personal and professional, so I do not consider my role as a counsellor as a job, it’s more than that. Professionally I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work ethically to the BACP ethical framework by maintaining professionalism with a commitment to keeping the clients well-being and interests at its very heart.I work predominantly in my private practice with adults whilst also counselling children in schools, this means I have a broad client base encompassing adults, adolescents and children all of whom are trying to deal with a variety of issues, whether they are relational, mental health, diagnosed or not, or any of those cited under Counselling in this website. I work both directly in the community, together within secondary and primary schools. My Qualifications
My qualifications are that I am registered MBACP and I have a BA Honours Degree in Integrative Counselling. In this respect I work using an Assimilative Model of Integration, which simply means that I use different therapeutic theoretical practices in helping my clients resolve their issues. The theories that I use most are Person Centred, which is at its very core, together with Existentialist and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I also have a Professional Diploma in Counselling together with other qualifications linked to creative therapy, safeguarding, bereavement etc.A Personal Perspective
Counselling West MidlandsI watch “It’s a Wonderful Life” every Christmas and the ending still moves me. Art fascinates me particularly when I don’t understand it. I like drinking coffee and being in places where people drink coffee, an excuse to read or to be with friends. These aspects are but parts of me, a human being. Maybe it helps to know that counselling will always be about the meeting of two human beings. I hold it a great privilege when clients feel able to share with me their innermost thoughts and feelings, I hold it most precious. For my part I bring to bear my knowledge, my experience and a caring commitment to discover meaning and understanding.
