Jan R Harper CBT Counselling Psychotherapist Oxford – About My Practice

Jan R Harper CBT Counselling Psychotherapist Oxford offers a unique and compassionate approach to mental health therapy. I combine cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with a wide range of evidence-based techniques to support adults facing emotional challenges. Although CBT is my core framework, I adopt an eclectic counselling style. This allows me to adapt to each client’s individual needs, ensuring effective, tailored treatment.

My focus lies in short-term, solution-focused, and trauma-informed care. I understand how grief, domestic abuse, and trauma can disrupt daily life. For this reason, I provide a nurturing and confidential environment. Clients work with me to explore the roots of distress and create a realistic path toward emotional wellbeing. Together, we identify goals and move forward, step-by-step, toward healing.

My Therapeutic Experience and Professional Background

With over 20 years of clinical experience, I bring a deep understanding of human behaviour and emotional healing. Before counselling, I worked in human resources and occupational health. That experience gave me insight into the pressures professionals face in fast-paced environments.

In addition, I have worked with several Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). These opportunities have allowed me to support emergency service workers, educators, and business professionals. My approach consistently reflects a strong commitment to mental wellness, workplace resilience, and psychological education.

By combining academic knowledge with clinical insight, I continue to help clients manage complex emotional conditions. This role allows me to work collaboratively within a professional and highly skilled team.

Training and Educational Support

I hold a Level 5 Higher National Diploma in CBT, alongside a Level 6 qualification in counselling supervision.
