Dr Hazel Reynders Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist Sheffield is an expert in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation. She brings over 30 years of clinical and leadership experience to her role. She qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1992 and has since worked extensively across South Yorkshire and Sheffield.
Dr Reynders began her career in neurorehabilitation before joining the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. There, she contributed to both neuropsychological diagnostics and rehabilitation. In 2002, she became the Clinical Lead and Manager for regional Neuropsychology Services, significantly expanding services across the Trust. She ensured these services addressed a wide range of needs and supported multidisciplinary teams.
Her independent practice began in 2015. Since then, Dr Reynders has focused on medicolegal work, diagnostic neuropsychology, and psychological interventions. She frequently collaborates with case managers and rehabilitation services to deliver targeted care. Her clinical insight allows her to formulate detailed treatment plans and deliver interventions that truly help clients rebuild their daily functioning.
In addition to clinical work, she supervises other clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists. This includes her role as a registered supervisor with the British Psychological Society (BPS). Furthermore, she is an approved supervisor for those completing the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology through the BPS Division of Neuropsychology.
Her work spans three primary areas. First, diagnostic testing helps distinguish between brain injury and other cognitive difficulties. Second, she assesses the psychological and social impacts of neurological disorders. Third, she delivers psychological interventions, often using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support adults adjusting to the effects of brain injury or illness.
Additionally, Dr Reynders advises other professionals, ensuring collaborative care for individuals with neurological conditions. Her goal is to use evidence-based methods that promote improved functioning and emotional wellbeing.
Dr Reynders regularly teaches on the University of Sheffield Clinical Psychology Training Course. She also has a strong research background, with several published works in the field of epilepsy. Her academic contributions enrich both her teaching and clinical approaches.
